Summary/Abstract: Гібридна топографія. Місця й не-місця в сучасній українській літературі is animportant reading position for everyone who is not indiff erent to literary processes takingplace in the latest Ukrainian literature. In his monograph, the author examines the relationsbetween literature, socio-political changes and diff erences in the processes of shapingUkrainian identity in various regions of the country. Polishchuk draws attention to thetendencies of Ukrainian literature of the transitional period on two opposite vectors: internaland external expansion. The fi rst of these are works focusing on issues related to theproblems of the Ukrainian province and its cult. Frequently, these are attempts related toliterary playback or creation of the Ukrainian province cult, ruined in the times of theSoviet Union as depicted by Valery Shevchuk, Volodymyr Drozd, Mariya Matios, VolodymyrLys, Vasyl Shklar and others. The second trend of literature development indicatedby the researcher is most often based on contrasting the fuzzy identity of the place andspace of the hero’s strong individuality, focusing on the fi gure that crosses the boundariesto abandon the well-known world to gain new horizons. Jaroslav Polishchuk fi nds theseelements in the works of Yuri Andrukhovch, Oksana Zabuzhko, Yuriy Izdryk, Taras Prohasko,Serhij Zhadan.Гібридна топографія. Місця й не-місця в сучасній українській літературі, themonograph by Jaroslav Poliszczuk, is an important lecture introducing readers to a widerange of problems faced by contemporary Ukrainian literature.
