Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the important problem of the cultural-historical beginningsand the generation of the Ukrainian between the West and the East using thematerial of the textbook «The culture and traditions of Ukrainian: from the past tillnowadays». The appearance of this textbook in Poland gives the evidence of theconducive cultural and scientifi c environment in this «neighbouring country» for thedevelopment of the Ukrainian content such as language, history, traditions. Also itis a very important unifying component in intercultural and international politics ofboth countries. The authors of this textbook were able to embrace a wide range ofUkrainian culture and introduced Ukraine as a self-suffi cient and developed countrywith the powerful creative potential and original identity. It is an integral partof the European history and a full value partner of all European processes. Thisbook includes a wide range of information about Ukrainian culture and traditionsthat is why authors worked very hard. The form and contents of the textbook arevery interesting and it is one of the reasons why students want to read and studythe topics. In conclusion, the articles and a text with a commentary thereon are onemore positive message about Ukraine to a Polish reader.
