Summary/Abstract: The regime change from communism took place in terms of constitutional law via the modification of the old communist Constitution, that is the 20th Act of 1949, and by the adoption of a few cornerstone laws (like the Act on the Constitutional Court). The changes were negotiated over by the ruling Hungarian Socialist Workers’ Party and the Opposition Round Table during the so-called “Round Table Talks” of summer 1989 and were then enacted by the last communist Parliament.
