După 50 de ani: epilog în destinul colecției lui Gh. Ghibănescu
50 Years On: Epilogue in the Destiny of Gh. Ghibănescu’s Collection

Summary/Abstract: In this text, I depict an episode within the history of the Archives of Iași, more precisely, the end of the archival adventure surrounding the purchase of the library appertaining to Gh. Ghibănescu (n. 1864 – d. 1936), the renowned editor of the Moldavian medieval documents. The most part of his collection was purchased by the State Archives in Iași, in stages, in the communist period. The last attempt – in 1965 – when the archivists had received for assessment 250 archival units was a great failure due to the insufficient amount requested. In the year 2015, after exactly 50 years, the documents were identified and bought from the heirs of Gh. Ghibănescu from Câmpina, despite the fact that in the budget of the Archives in Iași no amounts were previewed for such purchases. In this context, the State patrimony received over 70 old books written in Slavonic, Greek, Latin, Russian, Romanian with Cyrillic characters, two Latin parchments, registers with documents copied by Gh. Ghibănescu and his students, letters, photographs, etc., thus representing one of the most important purchases made after the fall of communism.
