Summary/Abstract: The study defines basic features of children’s detective fiction. The author points out both the features of the genre’s modern conception and the penetration of this genre, through translation, into the reader’s awareness in Slovakia in the 1960 s and 1980 s. The Janusz Domagalik’s Five Cases of Detective Konopka (Pięć przygód detektywa Konopki) is analysed as an example of the excellent masterpiece of children’s detective story, in which the author humorously and from the higher perspective flirts with the genre’s expectations laid on this specific literature.
