Summary/Abstract: Non-governmental organizations play an important role in the development oflocal communities in different fields of life. An efficient management of this kind of organizations is essential in the proper accomplishment of their mission and objectives. A well managed organization operates most efficiently when the following conditions are met: the talents of all its members are made use of, the guidelines set by the management are madec omprehensible to everyone and the atmosphere at work, often a hard one, fosters cooperation and both the development of employees and the whole organization. Regardless ofthe legal frame, the size and location of its activities, it is the people who constitute the fundamental principles and the capital of non-governmental organizations – both employees as well as volunteers. For this reason, it is worth considering the third sector activities in thecontext of human resources management as well. The article discusses the consolidation of management in the third sector activities and it also attempts to present the difficulties inconnection with the process of management in non-profit organizations.
