Summary/Abstract: The sequence plays a strategic role in retention, growth and development of family businesses, which in recent years have increased the studies that yield model for the succession process in family firms. In Tabasco no studies that quantify the number of family businesses, nor studies focused on the problems of these businesses, in this respect Luis Felipe Cisneros [2009] notes that research of family businesses is in a “preparadigmática” phase this could explain the lack of studies of this type of company. The research was conducted relating to a subsector of the industrial sector of purified water, which total population corresponds to family businesses and aims to identify the characteristics of entrepreneurs in relation to the succession. Finding that the owners never spoke to transfer ownership of the business to his sons; in their worldview, ie, relationships, feelings and emotions produced by the peculiar experience of the world within a given environment contribute to conform, the founders understood the inheritance as natural to be held when you die, then its properties pass into the hands of his wife and later at the hands of their children; while their children must work with them or anywhere else for income to support their families.
