Summary/Abstract: The authors focus on ethical issues in conducting so-called operational and reconnaissance activities. The article contains a broad overview and breakdown of these activities on the basis of “police legislation”. The material from interviews conducted by the authors with the operating officers, constituted the basis of the analysis of ethical problems, which often accompany specific operational procedures. Particular attention was paid to so-called personal source of information and methods for obtaining it, the application of operational techniques and the impact of operational work on relations of officers with family and the environment.
