Summary/Abstract: The evolution of human relationships has led to civil partnerships as an alternative form of cohabitation. Therefore, in many European countries the relationship between two people who live together, regardless of their gender, received legal recognition. Moreover, in some countries these partnerships have almost the same effects as a marriage. Whether or not other European countries are prepared to regulate such partnerships, it is important in the end that the marriage institution should not be endangered.
