Summary/Abstract: Cyber space generates both opportunities for developing an informational society and risks regarding its functionality. The existence of vulnerabilities in information systems, which can be exploited by organized groups, makes the ensuring of cyber space security a major preoccupation for all involved entities.The present paper provides a general view of the present challenges in the cyber field and identifies the threats, vulnerabilities and the risks regarding cyber security. Romania’s ability to react to threats in cyber space is also presented here.
