Principles of arrangement of Ukrainian folk songs about love in the creative works of Andriy Kushnirenko

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to reveal the principles of arranging Ukrainian folk songs in the creative works of A. Kushnirenko on the example of his composer interpretations of songs about love. Methodology. There were applied the methods of historical, theoretical and genre-style analysis, which allowed to determine the peculiarities of A. Kushnirenko arrangement of Ukrainian folk songs about love. The scientific novelty consists in elucidating the principles of arranging folk songs about love, analyzing the works of Andriy Kushnirenko, a Bukovynian composer whose style has been poorly studied in contemporary musicology. Conclusions. The arrangement of Ukrainian folk songs, in particular, Bukovynian songs, is one of the most striking pages of Andriy Kushnirenko works. Songs about love in his choir and vocal interpretations are examples of professional mastery and ingenuity of the composer, where the means of academic composer thinking reveal the beauty and extraordinary melodiousness of Ukrainian folklore.
