Summary/Abstract: Purpose of the article: To collect, research and rethink the documents and testimonies of the Kyiv musical brotherhood and the musical chapel of the Kyiv magistrate in the 17–18 centuries. The methodology of the research is to apply descriptive, comparative and historical-logical methods. Scientific novelty: In addition to introducing new historical documents into Ukrainian musicological discourse, several important conclusions and clarifications were made for the first time, new observations were recorded. For example, the reasons for the appearance of the musical chapel of the Kyiv magistrate were identified, one of the musicians of the music brotherhood was identified, which, among other things, created partes music compositions, examples of cooperation of musical brotherhood and the Kyiv magistrate. Conclusions: Musical culture of Kyiv in the 17–18 centuries was not limited to the religious environment. For the needs of the urban population in the 17th century, a musical brotherhood was formed that fully met all its needs, from playing at christenings, weddings, birthdays, holidays and in pubs, to playing on the tower of the city magistrate and during the reception of the most respected guests of the city. Obviously, their work was in demand, because in the 18th century the struggle between the magistrate and the Kyiv colonel broke out for power over the musical brotherhood. In the end, the Cossack authorities prevailed, which prompted the magistrate to arrange its own musical chapel.
