Summary/Abstract: Purpose of the article is studying the peculiarities of folklore transformation in the orchestral oeuvre of L. Kolodub by the musicological analysis of Symphony No. 3 "In the style of the Ukrainian Baroque." The methodology of the study involves applying comparative, historical-logical and theoretical methods. This methodological approach allows analyzing the symphony through the prism of the individual manner of L. Kolodub creative thinking and the style features of Ukrainian folk melodies. Scientific novelty is manifested in the identification of characteristic stylistic features and author's methods of rethinking folklore in the composer's orchestral music by the musicological analysis of Symphony No. 3 "In the style of the Ukrainian Baroque." Conclusions. Specific features of the composer's mastery of folklore in Symphony No. 3 "In the style of the Ukrainian Baroque" are reflected in the fact that the author does not address the archaic layers of musical folklore, but creatively reinterprets the achievements of the foreign and Ukrainian music of the Baroque period. With the help of modern means of orchestral writing (sonorism, aleatory, atonality, etc.) he reproduces the era in its historical context. The symphony is characterized by vivid pictorial representativeness, which obeys the program content of the composition. As a result of combining baroque and modern forms of artistic thinking, a new integrative unity appears in work, that can hardly be compartmentalized under the general style classification.
