Summary/Abstract: The link between cybercrime and personal data protection is obvious, stating that if in the second case personal data is the object of protection, in the first case obtaining personal data is the purpose pursued by cybercriminals. In essence, cybercriminals access and use personal data that does not belong to them, on behalf of the data subjects, to obtain benefits to their own advantage. In 2018, both GDPR Regulation no. 2016/679 as well as NIS Directive 2016/1148 on measures for a high common level of network and IT security in the EU began to apply. Both aimed at implementing new organizational and technical measures by service operators, on the one hand, and by personal data operators on the other. It is imperative that in the future, as cyber attacks become more complex and sophisticated, the degree of collaboration between the institutions involved will grow exponentially, as will the investments made by organizations in new technologies and in the proper training of employees.
