Summary/Abstract: Smart contracts is a promising technology for making business transactions, but it can be also useful in non-business solutions. The aim of the article is to present the specificity of smart contracts and to assess their functioning in the perspective of impact on enterprises and their competitiveness. The main part of the paper presents the use of cases of smart contracts. Some of them are already running businesses but some are examples of the projects which can be started in the future. In another part of the article disadvantages of smart contracts and barriers in implementing them in real life are pointed.
