Summary/Abstract: Cultural studies of family businesses were conducted to interpret the ways of interaction and meaning construction that do not respond necessarily to economic rationality to crosslink feelings, affections, emotions and values created by family members. It is important to find new theoretical framework that will allow us to interpret business decisions corresponding more to a logic of community and respect for their traditions than to the pursuit of big profits. In order to contribute to the knowledge on this subject, the objective of this work is to study the culture and processes of transfer of traditional knowledge in two family workshops dedicated to the production. Addressing the issue of culture in these family workshops in Oaxaca craft production leads to a complex problem to iconnect two logical exchange; one corresponding to the market rules and the other to the symbolic reproduction of cultural meanings of the Zapotec and Mixtec region. The study of the workshops from the proposed approach requires us to venture into the study of culture in the region.
