Creativity of Roland Dyens in the context of French guitar music of the twentieth century

Summary/Abstract: Purpose of Research. The article outlines the panorama of the creative searches of Roland Dyens, a guitarist and composer, in the context of artistic phenomena and the socio-cultural dynamics of the development of French guitar music of the 20th century. Methodology. The research methodology consists of historical, comparative, structural-functional methods, which allow us to cover the marked large section of the formation of French guitar art. Scientific Novelty. The scientific novelty of the study consists in an integrated approach to the study of Roland Dyens’ guitar heritage, taking into account the socio-dynamic factors and musical-stylistic trends of French guitar music. Conclusions. The main creative discourses in R. Dyens's music have aimed at the developing of the cross-cultural links between the traditions of European guitar art (its avantgarde, postmodern paradigms) and the Brazilian, Middle Eastern cultural areas, as well as the non-academic experience of jazz music playing. The history of the formation of the French guitar school in contact with the leading Spanish virtuosos is traced. The influence of the generation of domestic artists on the formation of the national guitar repertoire has been studied.
