Summary/Abstract: Purpose of Research. The purpose of the article is to highlight the issue of the assimilation of folk-song elements in the prose literary works in modern literary process. The task of the article is to clarify the role and functional importance of song texts, music and instruments in samples of the prose genres. Methodology. The research methodology is based on a comparative approach in the review process of assimilation of folk-song and musical elements of folk art works of modern Ukrainian literature. The contextual analysis method is also used to find out the role of the folk song in prose of modern times. Scientific Novelty. The scientific novelty of the article is the fact that it is the first study of the implementation and functioning of the folk songs and folk music elements in the modern prose literary process. Conclusions. An important contribution to the popularization of folk-song genre belongs to the modern prose writers. They use actively texts of the folk songs to create a work-space. In the art works of modern Ukrainian literature, the writers often use the following types of folk-song genre such as historical duma, lyric folklore song, song of the ritual calendar cycle, sung congratulations.
