Summary/Abstract: Purpose of Research. The article studies the history of the productions of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's operas on Lviv stages of musical theatres. The purposes of the article are to establish a chronology of the appearance of P. Tchaikovsky's operas in the repertoire of the Lviv theatres and to show the features of the stage representation of operatic plots in the most famous productions. Methodology. The article is based on materials stored in theatrical archives, reviews of opera performances, published in the local periodical press, and memoirs of the soloists of the Lviv Opera, who took part in these productions. Scientific Novelty. The familiarization with documental materials showed that on the stage in Lviv musical theatres from the end of 19th century the operas of P.Tchaikovsky were shown constantly. However, it was not highlighted in a proper way in existing scientific publications, and just mentioned briefly. It appears that the opera creation of the Russian composer omitted the capital of Galicia, and was not known not only by Lviv society, but to critics as well. It does not suit that situation which used to be and exists in fact. Conclusions. An overview of the Lviv Opera House performances shows that opera arts by P.Tchaikovsky had been occupying an important place in his repertoire for all periods of existence. Performances renewed, had a few premieres, stage direction changed, scenography. The new performers were introduced. Operas were perceived by society as well as musical critics. Thus, on stage of the theatres six operas by P.Tchaikovsky were shown: «Eugene Onegin», «The Queen of Spades», «Iolanta», «Сharodiyka», «Cherevichki» and «Mazeppa». The first three operas are world masterpieces and are in the repertoire of many leading theatres, plots of the last two operas are connected with Ukrainian history and culture. Therefore, choice of that particular opera performances is obvious.
