Summary/Abstract: Purpose of Research. The purposes of the article are to present a musical and aesthetical analysis of The Golden Cradle, a collection of solo singing works, created by Bohdana Filts on the basis of Lina Kostenko’s works; to ascertain the peculiarities of the form and the content of the compositions and the general concept of the collection of solo singing works. Methodology. The methodology of the article is the application of the systemic approach to analyse Bohdana Filts’s creative process as a composer’s working in the genres of vocal music, particularly solo singing works, accompanied by the piano. Scientific Novelty. The author is the first who conducts the musical and aesthetical analysis of the Bohdana Filts’s collection of solo singing works, The Golden Cradl,e in the context of the integrity of the vocal singers’ practice. Conclusions. One of the newest collections of solo singing works, based on Lina Kostenko’s lyrics appeared at the beginning of 2016. It has got a symbolic and catchy title, which is rooted in Lina Kostenko’s poetry, «There is a Golden Cradle among the Roses». This solo singing of Bohdana Filts ushers in her collection, elaborating on the topics of creativity and the essence of poetry. Solo singing works, entitled «In the Evil and Frigid World», «Early in the Morning while Acacias Still Asleep», and «The Unwritten Letter» have been composed for the literary-musical composition that was entitled «Today is the Day…» that was written on the basis of Lina Kostenko’s works and then performed on the 15th of February, 2016 in the Mykola Lysenko Column Hall of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine. The romance «Do you remember…» which was a sequel to the topics of preceding works, addresses the most clandestine strings of human life: the Mystery of Love. The «In Hetman Ivan Sulyma’s Estate» solo singing work revives the victorious image of Ukrainian Cossacks. In her collection «The Golden Cradle», based on Lina Kostenko’s lyrics, the prominent composer Bohdana Filts is skilfully relaying on the plot of poetic works, building them up into a dramatically developed composition containing a set of dimensions, ranging from philosophical comprehension of creativity, historical parallels between the bravery of the Ukrainians of yore and the Ukrainians of our times, and up to intricate intimate emotional experiences. «The Golden Cradle» collection will be of crucial importance to the development of the repertoire of Ukrainian vocal and piano concerts and will contribute to the cause of upbringing of the younger generation of vocalists and piano performers.
