Summary/Abstract: Purpose of Article. The paper aims to determine the ways of implementation of the game element in the piano duets that have different imaginative contents and genre directions in the oeuvre of the well-known modern Ukrainian composer V. Ptushkin. The relevance of the proposed topic is determined by the fact that game logic in the piano duet of V. Ptushkin’s works hasn’t been adequately investigated in the scientific literature yet. The methodology of the research is based on the principle of historicism which presupposes that imaginative phenomena are analyzed in their connection to the tradition. The chosen approach assumes theoretical and comparative analysis which makes it possible to discover peculiarities in the logic of playing performance interpretation in V.Ptushkin’s works, the influence of the art and the poetic manner of Baroque on the composer’s creative principles, the techniques of transforming the artistic conception into a theatrical performance and visualization means for musical images. Being a particular kind of human activity, the game involves the combination of elements, the redistribution of their functions, the creation of unexpected situations, anticipated responses, in general – the modeling of a particular semantic space, the aesthetic value of which lies in the plurality of options offered. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the analysis of ensembles for two pianos by V. Ptushkin from the point of game logic, which makes it possible to identify some common elements in works of different scale and figurative structure. Among them: the use of polyphonic techniques as a means of creating a dialogical situation of all kinds, polyfunctional interpretation of parties, the use of question-answer structures, the significant role of intonational-rhythmic and textural complexes, the activation of spatial representations, genre directions, etc. Conclusions. Summarizing the analytical research, we emphasize that the genre nature of the ensemble for two pianos allowed V. Ptushkin to apply his intention to the dramatization of the music space and diverse potential of game logic. For this purpose, he uses the full range of expressive means to create a situation of misunderstanding, substitution, encrypted information, genre disharmony. A useful tool in the implementation of creative ideas is the instrumental duet, whose polyfunctional correlation of parties contributes to the disclosure of key images and the visualization of the conceived.
