Problems of Jazz in Art History Discourse

Summary/Abstract: Purpose of Article. The goal of the publication is to determine the degree of scientific study of the problems of jazz art and the prospects for its further development by analysis of contemporary art criticism. Methodology. The primary methods of research are historiographical - in the development of scientific literature, devoted to the reproduction of comprehensive contexts and historical realities of the development of jazz art; comparative - to provide a comparative examination of scientific works to monitor the dialectics of the dialogue of their authors. The scientific novelty of the article is to create a comprehensive picture of the achievements of modern jazz science (first of all, domestic). Conclusions. Jazz science, in the world and national dimensions, is an active science and is part of the structure of modern art studies. Problems of jazz are represented by a set of approaches and methods of studying its historical-cultural, aesthetic, musical-theoretical, and linguistic characteristics. The art of discourse is aimed at revealing individual-personal, artistic specifics of jazz art, the dialogic essence of jazz and its communicative features, types of jazz thinking, interspecific integration, interaction with the music of the "third stratum," etc
