Summary/Abstract: The emergence of blockchain technology and its applications, such as smart contracts, is a challenge for lawyers to rethink the classic institution of contract law. The most common question associated with the concept of smart contracts is: are they contracts or not? The present paper attempts to provide an answer to this question starting from the classical acceptance of the contract term, by reference to the validity conditions provided by the Romanian Civil Code.
