Summary/Abstract: Multiple data indicate that despite the fact that during the last decade, Poland had remained in the forefront of the fastest growing countries, among the expanded EU membership, Poland’s economy, in comparison with other member countries, has not reached the assumed level of competitiveness. Furthermore, the competitiveness gap, especially understood as the improvement of the individual welfare and not as the growth of the national welfare is rather declining as oppose to at least leveling the distance in reference to the so called “economic growth center”. Moreover, the danger of further external and internal peripheryzation is even more evident in a spot of the economic slowdown of the entire EU, particularly when considering the fact the total heart of economic growth and development is slowly moving toward Asia.
