Summary/Abstract: This paper touches the issue of high reliability in organization perceived through theprism of safety culture. The aim of the paper is to examine the impact of safety culture on the attitudes and behaviors of employees, such us organizational citizenship behavior and motivation to work as mediated by organizational commitment. Data were collected from 307 employees from various industries in Poland. The participants were asked with a self-reportedsurvey. The empirical results show that safety culture is positively related to affective and normative commitment to an organization. Furthermore, the study confirmed that affective commitment is positively related to organizational citizenship behavior and motivation to work. It also demonstrates that only affective commitment has a partially mediated role in relations between safety culture – organizational citizenship behavior and safety culture – motivation to work.
