Summary/Abstract: Individual education and individual pre-school mandatory annual preparation concern over a dozen thousands of children and youth in Poland per year. On the one hand, it provides an opportunity to continue learning despite adverse health conditions,and on the other hand, it involves changes in the social situation of the pupil, which are not always taken into account. Individual education is often unknown to the parent, confused with individual learning path or so-called home teaching, a challenge for the student and teacher moving in the space of individual contact, and an area requiring in-depth,multi-faceted diagnosis and decision of the adjudicating team acting in psychological and pedagogical centers. In this context, the purpose of this work is complex. For parents,it may be a collection of important information they should know before they decide to apply for a judgment on the need for individual education. For professionals especially taking part in the adjudicating team meetings, it is a proposal to share a point of view of practices and experience in an area that could be reduced to the question “when is individual teaching needed?”
