Summary/Abstract: The five centuries that have passed since Martin Luther’s speech provide the right opportunity to reflect on the impact of the Reformation movement on morality. The aim of the article is to analyse the philosophical and theological sources of the changes that resulted from the Protestant movement questioning the proper relationship between reason and faith. An important element of the text is the description of modern research showing how the perception of faith and moral principles has changed among Catholics and Protestants. Besides this, the problem of the “new Reformation” is presented, i.e. the global movement of change as a result of the process of pentecostalization of various denominations of Christianity and the resulting ethical challenges.
