Summary/Abstract: Holiday stays in the monasteries are becoming increasingly popular in many European countries. Resting and regenerating in the monasteries responds to market demand and offers a varied holiday offer, such as silent prayer, retreats, psychological and religious counseling, or culinary courses to explore the secrets of religious cuisine. The offer of „holiday in the monastery” is becoming more and more diversified and is being expanded in various monasteries. In the monasteries one can both participate in the spiritual community, as well as enjoy accommodation and food. The subject of the study isan analys is of the motives and ways of realizing the goals of holiday stays in hermitages, an attempt to find a common ground in the newly-named „monastic tourism”.
