Protection of Individuals with Regard to the Use of European Union Funds

Summary/Abstract: European funds, referred to as EU funds, are financial resources coming from the budget of the European Union. They are intended to support and restructure the economies of the EU Member States. Thanks to them, the competitiveness of the economies of the Member States is increased, unemployment and social exclusion are fought, and measures are implemented that support the development of poorer regions of the Member States. The funds are relatively easy to obtain. However, beneficiaries are not always fully aware of the conditions and obligations involved. One of the negative consequences that the beneficiaries must take into account, and which they are often unaware of in the event of breaching the project durability, is the reimbursement of the granted subsidy with interest calculated as fortax arrears.
