Psychological Predictors of Positive Posttraumatic Changes in Medical Rescue Workers

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the research was to investigate the role of resiliency and coping strategies with stress in occurrence of posttraumatic positive changes. Data of 80 medical rescue workers, who confirmed experience at least one traumatic event in their worksite, were analyzed. The Posttraumatic Growth Inventory, the Assessment of Resiliency Scale and Inventory Mini-COPE were used in the study. The results revealed that the main role in posttraumatic growth play factor of resiliency, it is determination and persistence in action and among coping strategies – turning to religion. Generally, in the process of emergence of positive posttraumatic changes coping strategies play more significant role than resiliency.
