Summary/Abstract: The main objective of the study is to examine the relations between the scale and directions of earnings management, measured by the discretionary accruals coefficient and diagnostic variables illustrating operational financial security of industriallisted enterprises (which include: liquidity, productivity of current assets, operating profitability, cash efficiency and short-term reserve management strategies). For the operationalization of the adopted research objective, the main research hypothesis was formulated claiming that in the studied population the values of discretionary accrualsare more related to accrual operational financial safety indicators than to their cash counterparts. Empirical studies were conducted among industrial public companies, whose shares have been traded on the stock market for at least 13 years in the assumed horizon of 2002-2016.
