Summary/Abstract: The trumpet has occupied a leading place in the composition of jazz orchestras, starting with the first bands that appearedat the end of the 19th century to the present day. Throughout these years, both the jazz orchestra and the trumpet part within it have evolved permanently, incorporating the characteristics of various styles and musical currents. The present article traces the historical evolution of the jazz orchestras reflected in the performances of the most famous bands, metioning their conductors, as well as the famous trumpeters who influenced the development of the orchestral art in the jazz field.
