Summary/Abstract: For years a steady growth of multinational corporations has been observed asa result of a process of globalisation and constant economic development. A key feature of multinational corporate operations is specialisation which enables businesses to profit from the economies of scales as well as make use of a high quality and value of their undertakings since certain tasks are performed by high-class contactors. It must be underlined that to locate their enterprises, corporations use favourable conditions in each country such as stable economic, political, legal and fiscal systems, as well as a supportive government and local authorities and finally geographical and cultural environment.The article analyses the influence certain aspects of operations performed by multinational corporations have on economic and social development from a host country’s point of view. It focuses on the influence that multinationals have on increasing supply and investment in a region, as well as employment and pays levels, the role of technology transfer in the development of the region and finally the implementation of certain institutional and system solutions in host countries.
