Summary/Abstract: National parks are the most important form of nature protection in Poland. In2012, these parks were transformed from budgetary units into state-owned legal entities. At the same time, auxiliary farms were liquidated with the help of which the parks performed a fundamental activities in the sphere of protection of natural resources. The new legal and organizational form was to increase the financial independence of parks and improve the efficiency of operations, including to improve the absorption of European funds. The article shows that the allocation of legal personality to national parks translated into a marked increase in the absorption of EU funds, but the funds obtained were still of relatively minor importance in the financial management of parks.
