Sustainable Approach to Air Transport in Context of Organizational and Product Innovations

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the paper is to examine sustainable approach to air transport on example of organizational and product innovation, introduced in civil aviation industry, in pursuit of lower fuel consumption and reduction of externalities. Analyzed are two major aircraft manufacturers Airbus and Boeing and their product evolution, enabling to achieve higher fuel efficiency by its lower usage per unit. Discussed is technological, economical and environmental impact of product innovations. Researched is impact of the sustainable practices on efficiency of airlines and their economic output. As a result final conclusions and recommendations will be presented, including identification of benchmark aircraft models in civil aviation.
