Summary/Abstract: The use of women’s potential as a management staff and the investment offunds in the development of their competences is an important factor for the success ofa modern enterprise. Increasing the share of women in business management has notonly an economic or image dimension, but also a strategic one in the development ofthe organization. The article refers to the positions and results of research on the participation of women in management bodies as well as the increasing positive impact of women on boards which provides financial and social success of a business. There are also distinguished aspects of social beliefs, including stereotypes and prejudices about women, which translate into a negative perception of women’s participation in management and, as a result, generate barriers to women’s promotion to higher positions in the company. The statistical characterization of the situation of women present in management boards and performing more responsible positions in Polish enterprises indicates significant inequalities between women and men, of which there are definitely more. However, the benefits of the presence of women on management boards are perceived by both problem researchers and entrepreneurs and employers themselves. Gender diversity at the highest levels of management is currently perceived as a creator of higher profitability and competitiveness of the company. The articles provides data from actual statistics as well as personal analysis and conclusions for the future primarily the reasons for the low participation of women in positions on boards and the arguments for increasing the presence of women in top positions, which could be conducive to increasing efficiency of enterprises.
