Summary/Abstract: Cardiovascular and cancer diseases accounts for over 70% of deaths in western countries. Because people live longer and age is very strong risk factor for both cardiovascular and cancer diseases, both disorders are so widespread and may often affect one person in the same time. Very effective but aggressive methods of treatment in oncology have numerous side effects, those in circulatory system including. This is why often not cancer, but cardiovascular disorders determine life span and life quality in cancer survivors. The author discusses medical, organizational and economy problems in the area of cardiooncology – new subspecialty, that deals with patients suffering from both cardiac and cancer diseases. Coordinated, multidisciplinary, properly reimbursed medical cardio-oncology system is a must to optimize health care for patient with cardiac and cancer diseases and to achieve the best results of oncology treatment.
