Summary/Abstract: There are many factors that influence management of basic health care and the existing dilemmas and challenges related to health care cause great emotions. The fundamental goal in the field of health protection is to provide all citizens with equal access to health services, which is supported by universal financing, independent of the individual level of using medical services and individual health risk. Difficulties are concentrated around the access tohealth services, going beyond the limits on medical services, value of contracts with the National Health Fund in relation to the possibility of their implementation by SP ZOZ being too low and failure to provide the necessary services in sufficient quantity and in due time. At the same time, the demand for health services is increasing, the patient's expectations are growing in terms of the increase in the quality of services, modern technologies, specialist medical and diagnostic services that significantly affect the diagnosis. In addition, the increasing requirements for the financing of benefits by the National Health Fund make the increase in costs not proportional to the income received. The aim of the article is to present selected problems in the field of financing medical services and management of a medical centre in the face of broad expectations of patients in the scope of services provided, but with limited financial resources. Revenues being a determinant of financial and investment opportunities remain stable, while the demand for higher quality and diversity of provided medical services is increasing. It is not possible to offer patients a widerange of services without highly specialized work force, equipment, technologies that significantly increase the costs.
