Research projects in business; risk analysis illustrated with an example of planning the projects co-financed by the European Union

Summary/Abstract: The objective of this paper was to present the process of risks analysis in selected enterprises (SMEs), applying for financing research projects from EU funds under the activity 1.1.1 (Research and development carried out by the companies), within Operational Program Smart Growth (POIR). The choice of this program as the background for risk analysis in the research projects was motivated by its attractiveness compared to other national programs financed from the EU structural funds. The risk analysis was carried out at the stage of the project proposals. Two areas of risk analysis have been identified: formal, which is required by the guidelines to the project application, as well as informal, unstructured, but happening in reality.
