Summary/Abstract: Issues related to change management are difficult to analyze. This to a great extent results from the fact that research results tend to be largely generalized. Actually, changes occur in several areas at once which results in the overlap of time, profoundness and levels - a mosaic which makes reasoning very complicated. It might be ventured that in fact a change has no beginning or end, especially when it is permanent. Yet, every change is different and people are present at every stage of change. In this way in practice changes are inimitable and unique, and also difficult to analyze due to generalizations that appear in theory. The purpose of this paper is to identify consistencies and discrepancies, similar and opposite interpretations of change management described in the theory of management and applied in practice. The subject of analyses is a critical analysis of the prevailing opinions of authors looking into the change management process, research results, and evaluation of the change management efficiency in large enterprises. The main research hypothesis is a statement that in practice the implementation of changes in enterprises differs in many aspects from views and statements included in the change management theory. Nevertheless, this does not mean that a non-critical approach is applied to the generated ideas or to the practical aspects. Still, conclusions may be drawn from research on change management and practical application guidelines may be identified, which is also an additional and essential purpose of this paper.
