Summary/Abstract: Nowadays intermodal transport is very important for the world trade as it seeks to integrate various resources and transport services. The purpose of this article is to present the characteristics and functioning of intermodal transport in Poland. The article shows how the diversity of modes of transport in supply chains can affect the speed of delivery of material required for production. It characterizes types of transport with the main emphasis on intermodal transport and describes supply chains and distribution of flows in the existing networks with logistics company, on the basis of which carried out a case study. Completed research allowed to draw meaningful conclusions, showing the advantages of using different modes of transport. It shows new opportunities for the company analyzed by comparing the supply chain and choosing the shortest route transport. The use of intermodal transport contributes to the rationalization of the entire distribution process and opens up many opportunities for the company.
