Committee of the distinguished natives of Panagyurishte and Panagyurishte area: “The Marin Drinov monument – first and imperative task”

Summary/Abstract: In 1933, the natives of Panagyurishte living in Sofia established the Committee of the Distinguished natives of Panagyurishte and Panagyurishte area, whose purpose was to study and promote the past of the land of their birth. The activities with which they were going to accomplish their goals were: publishing biographies and works of prominent natives of Panagyurishte, erection of monuments in memory of personalities and events from Panagyurishte and the region, publishing a history of the Panagyurishte region. On the basis of the Committee minute-book, this Scientific Communication examines the activity of paying tribute and recognition to one of the significant figures not only of Panagyurishte but also of Bulgaria – Prof. Marin Drinov.
