[This strange] institution called children literature. The history of children literature in the cultural perspective

Summary/Abstract: This article outlines the institutional definition of children literature and the benefits of its application in the study of contemporary literary phenomena. The article discusses the Polish tradition as well as contemporary scholarship on this literature and reminds about the culturally unstable status of a children (and adolescent) reader. The author proposes a new synthesis of the cultural history of the Polish literature for children.
