Summary/Abstract: The article contained the content of the role of authority in the education of man. The first part defines the concept of authority and distinctions two terms: having authority and being an authority. It drew attention what can happen with young people in a situation when they treat their parents as an authority. It also highlighted the problem of crisis of authority in the modern world. The second part presents the results of research on the understanding of the idea of parental authority by a person sentenced to imprisonment.
