Summary/Abstract: The Gulf Cooperation Council plays a key role in the global oil market. The dynamic development of the financial sector in the various Member States of the Gulf Cooperation Council is a result of the diversification process of the structure and modal balance of the economy. The financial sector makes a large commitment to business organisations and institutions, which are an integral part of the global economy. In order to identify the challenges of the Gulf Cooperation Council in the global economy, it is essential to isolate the main factors influencing the economic policies of the Council in the international area. The aim of the study is to explain the current integration process of member Gulf Cooperation Council states, such as to show the importance of this group in the global economy. The basic determinants of the challenges in the global economy are as follows: political, economic, formal, legal and military. The scope of the impact of the economic policies of the Gulf Cooperation Council shapes the global oil market, determines the development of the financial sector, as well as the impact on the development of tourism in the Gulf region. The article presents selected factors shaping the policy pursued by Member States of the Gulf Cooperation Council. The test method used in this study is the analysis and synthesis of secondary sources relating to the problem.
