Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to analyze the reasons of the failure of the ecosystem to sustain increased economic activities and to illustrate the necessary concept of the sustainable development. That is presented from its emergence until the theories of twentieth century and later its modern form. This is based, in the present study, on human realization of limits to growth, sustainability as the solution to growth problem, and the Brundtland Commission that shed light on growing popularity of sustainability in business ecosystem. Ecological, socioeconomic, political, epistemological, and psychological crisis are the five key aspects of the sustainability crisis, which are also discussed in the context of a theoretical approachof the issue of the present paper
