MIRAJUL TRADUCERILOR ÎN BUCOVINA CENTENARĂ
The Miracle of Translations in Centenarian Bukovina

Summary/Abstract: Paradoxically, for some, unusual for others, natural and logical for most of us, Bukovinian intellectuals felt the need, at least once in their life, to use their own translation of some texts. The motivation was varied: whether they considered the text to be fundamental to a certain field, or that the reader of “pleasure literature” had the right to access to great authors, or that the exercise itself of communicating in another language determined the culture people to propose the translation of some texts. Bucovina, as a space of authentic multilingualism (also, in a certain way) avant-la-lettre, assured the communication between its citizens using and cultivating this “universal language”, i.e. the translation (a phrase emanated and validated by the officials of the European Union), or as we would say, this art, which can not be reduced to traductology or to any other form of scientific analysis. Just as people spoke a long time before the language sciences were born, in the same way, they translated long before the translation came into being as a scientific object. The contact between languages in Bukovina generated language interferences, messages belonged to two or more “codes” and translation became the usual way of transmitting and understanding the messages.
