Summary/Abstract: In this article, the author analyses conceptual computer virus metaphors in English and Serbian through describing similarities in the conceptualisation of these metaphors within both languages, and subsequent effects on the conceptualisation of malicious software terminology in both languages. The conceptual metaphor MALICIOUS COMPUTER PROGRAMME IS A BIOLOGICAL VIRUS is analysed in both languages as a frame metaphor for conceptualising computer programmes by using the domain of contagious microbiology and virusology. The process of using the productive metaphor of ‘biological virus’ for computer viruses is described through examples from Serbian and English sources showing that English as information technlogy language influenced the conceptualisation of computer virus in Serbian as well.
