Summary/Abstract: The article presents the philosophy of affect which, according to the author, could become a key point of reference for the research in cultural theory. The author argues that cultural studies are still dominated by the theories grounded in Structuralism, while in order to balance the argument one needs to complement the excessive stress on signification with the reference to that which is expressive and affective. Drawing on the thought of Baruch Spinoza, Henri Bergson and Gilles Deleuze, as well as on the neurophysiological research and quantum physics, the author presents a concept of affect as inevitably bodily moment of intensity which disrupts linguistic structures and enabling the intervention of the new.
