Summary/Abstract: Her infamous biography Ksawera Deybel owes to the gaps caused by an ostentatious and persistent removal of her from the life of Adam Mickiewicz. The lack of source material added to the black legend and numerous innuendoes. Research in archives and libraries of Vilnius allowed for establishing quite an amount of documents and sources which then provided a basis for the establishment of new contexts which enabled scholars to verify hitherto existing speculations. The reconstruction of Ksawera Deybel’s biography provided a good opportunity for the examination of various and numerous misreadings.
